Abstract

The history of the measurement of whiteness and evaluation formulae for industrial use is discussed. The work of International Commission for Illumination (CIE) Technical Committee 1. 3. Colorimetry, in this area is described, with a proposal on the evaluation of whiteness in order to promote uniformity of practice.
