Abstract

Mixtures of fine powders with the basicities of 0. 6 to 5. 0 consisting of 80% hematite, slaked lime, and quartz were heated rapidly to 900 degree similar 1400 degree C and cooled in air. The process of the formation of minerals during rapid heating was examined. On the basis of the results, the microstructures and the formation processes of self-fluxing sinters with various basicities are discussed.
