Abstract

The paper deals with the comparison of variants of shading technology to ensure thermal comfort and satisfactory quality of the indoor environment. Shading technology is an integral part of contemporary architecture characterized by a significant occurrence of large glazed areas of building facades. It is necessary to think about the implementation of shading elements already during the conceptual preparation of the planning of a new building or the reconstruction of an existing building. The main concept of the paper is the evaluation of the impact of shading elements on thermal comfort. The efficiency of control of shielding elements is also evaluated. The temperature dynamic response of the evaluated room in the summer is monitored in terms of indoor air temperature, mean radiator temperature, and operating temperature (°C) according to the European standard EN ISO 52016-1: 2019. Total nine variants of shading elements are considered for the calculation of indoor thermal comfort. External and internal shading elements are considered. Some variants are then divided according to the possibility of control (automatic or manual controls).
