Farmer's lung

Abstract

A small series of cases of farmer's lung is described, stressing the acute onset and tendency to spontaneous recovery in six to eight weeks. The close similarity to coniosporiosis, byssinosis, and diffuse granulomatous pneumonitis is stressed. The theory is put forward that the condition is a nonspecific interstitial lung reaction to some material in the fungus-laden dust, rather than a true fungous infection of the lungs. © 1953, British Medical Journal Publishing Group.
