Abstract

Because the cyclic steam injection process is a multistage process, the methodology of dynamic programming must be applied in order to predict an optimum operating policy for a specific application of this technique. The purpose of this study was to develop a dynamic programming model that could detail a maximum-profit operating policy for the process. The developed model, analogous to the catalyst replacement problem, is fully explained and sample calculations are illustrated.
