Abstract

This paper describes a piping failure and fire resulting from inadequate support of an ammonia synthesis loop pressure relief valve, the non-destructive testing and evaluation of fire-impinged equipment, and the pipe failure mode. It also addresses support criteria for relief valves and other piping systems illustrating the importance of evaluating both static and dynamic loads.
