Abstract

This review concentrates on the parity-nonconserving (PNC) N-N interaction at low energies. Only the nuclear aspects of the topic are considered - the experimental techniques and theoretical analyses needed to extract the matrix elements of the N-N weak interaction from data in the two-nucleon system and in complex nuclei. Topics include: detection of parity violation in strongly interacting systems; parity violation in the N-N system; parity mixing in complex nuclei; and evaluation of PNC nuclear matrix elements.
