Abstract

Informational Literacy as the ability to deal with information, to locate, acquire, select them and make assertive decisions presents itself as an important element in the context of Knowledge Management and organizations. Knowledge Management is associated with knowledge as a strategic factor production where the success and competitiveness of an organization are associated with their ability to acquire, represent, manage, use and disseminate knowledge. However, the relationship of Informational Literacy with Knowledge Management is not too explored, especially under Organizational Learning focus. Therefore this paper proposes to verify the connection between those disciplines (Organizational Learning and Informational Literacy), from the perspective of the framework approach of the 4 I (s) proposed by Crossan, Lane and White (1999) - comprising the steps of intuition , interpretation, integration and institutionalization - considered in the learning process. This is an exploratory study which started from a literature review, followed by the analysis of the documents. By analyzing the process of Organizational Learning was perceived that Informational Literacy is permeated by the same processes. Moreover, some aspects of Informational Literacy approach, as the “lifelong learning” and “cognitive processes” are more representative and understandable when relating Information Literacy with Organizational Learning. Although, despite these issues seem closely linked, their exploration in this sense is not evident, showing a gap in the literature, opening up a field for future research.
