Abstract
This study explored the relationships between readiness for growth transition, cognitive emotion regulation, and quality of life in adolescent patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). A convenient sample of 183 adolescents with IBD was selected. We used general information questionnaires, the Chinese version of the readiness for transition questionnaire, the cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire, and the Chinese version of the pediatric quality of life inventory 4.0 to conduct the survey. We used the PROCESS macro in SPSS software to perform the mediation analysis. The transition readiness among adolescents score was (42.54 ± 11.06), the quality of life score was (49.92 ± 11.46), the adaptive cognitive emotion regulation score was (55.68 ± 21.44), and the maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation score was (35.39 ± 7.47). Adaptive/maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation partially mediated the growth transition readiness and quality of life in adolescents with IBD, with a total indirect effect of 0.38, accounting for 55.88% of the total effect. Medical staff should pay attention to the level of growth transition readiness in adolescents with IBD and guide them to choose adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies to improve their quality of life.
