Abstract

Following the damage reported in reinforced concrete (RC) buildings during significant earthquakes, performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE) methodology is selected in this study to examine the behavior of a RC multi-story building. PBEE methodology can be used to predict damages, losses, and repair costs according to the intensity of the earthquake. OpenSees finite element software is selected to model and analyze a multi-story RC building. Gravity, Eigenvalue and Pushover analysis are performed for the RC building model in OpenSees. A suite of 20 ground motions are applied to the RC building model in OpenSees. Incremental dynamic analys is (IDA) is performed for the RC building and IDA results are presented.
