Abstract

An innovative technique for obtaining ultra-low sidelobes pattern in a phased array is proposed. This technique involves the addition of two external edge elements which together produce an interferometer pattern used for cancellation of sidelobes. To obtain optimum cancellation of the sidelobes, the sidelobe structure of the original array must be designed to exactly match with that of the interferometer pattern. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2013.
