Abstract

An effective antireflection coating of syringelike ZnO NRAs is demonstrated for GaAs solar cells. Energy conversion efficiency is significantly enhanced by up to 32%. GaAs is focussed on as a model system, but the hydrothermal growth of syringelike ZnO nanostructures is readily compatible with the existing processes in the photovoltaic industry, and highly applicable for various types of solar cells. © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
