Abstract

H2O at 300 K has been studied up to 67 GPa by Brillouin scattering. A transition to a new form of ice occurs at 44 GPa. This is the tenth known solid form of H2O and may be the expected "symmetric-ice" structure. © 1984 The American Physical Society.
