Abstract

Wakegi onion is the result of a natural cross between shallot (Allium cepa L. aggregatum group) and spring onion (Allium fistulosum L.). One of the factors that interfere with growth and affect the production of wakegi onions in the field is the presence of basal rot or Fusarium wilt. This disease is caused by many different species of the fungal pathogen Fusarium spp. This study aims to determine the characteristics of basal rot pathogenic fungi that attack wakegi onions so that the pathogen can be ascertained. The research stages included sampling, fungal isolation, pathogenicity testing, and macroscopic and microscopic characterization. The results of the characterization of pathogenic fungi that infect wakegi shallot lead to the characteristics of the fungus F. oxysporum f.sp. cepae.
