Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements were carried out on Cm3+ doped in single crystals of the tetragonal symmetry YPO4 at room temperature, 77 K and 4.2 K. The EPR observations were made of all of the excited doublets in the ground 8S7/2 multiplet of Cm3+ by use of X-band frequencies. Resonances were observed even at room temperature. At room temperature, EPR spectra were also measured using Q-band microwave frequencies. EPR transitions between different doublets were observed. From angular dependence of the EPR spectra, the crystal field parameters were determined. It was found that the sign of [formula omitted] of the Steven's parameter was negative and that the effects of [formula omitted] and [formula omitted] on the crystal field energy levels were larger than those of [formula omitted] and [formula omitted]. © 1991, Atomic Energy Society of Japan.
