DESIGN OF W-SHAPES FOR COMBINED BENDING AND TORSION.

Abstract

Nine graphic charts are provided to permit rapid design checks for a variety of load types and end conditions involving W-Shapes in combined bending and torsion. The graphic charts permit evaluation of: the angle of twist, resulting from a given torque applied to a member, the twist stiffness and maximum direct stress due to warping restraint.
