Composition of Bile Pigments in the Bile of Sturgeon

Abstract

Bilirubin IX alpha glucuronides and bilirubin IX beta accounted for 90-95 and 3-5% of total bilirubins in the bile of the sturgeon (the hybrid of Huso x Acipenser ruthenus ). Ditaurobilirubin and biliverdin IX alpha did not exist. The absence of both pigments was confirmed by HPLC analyses. These results indicate that the composition of bile pigments in the bile of sturgeon resembles those of mammals.
