Abstract

Social responsibility is a transversal management model in the organizational culture, which involves both internal and external actors, and its scope goes beyond compliance with labor legislation. The objective of this study is to identify the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility and describe the actions carried out by companies. It is an exploratory study from a qualitative approach, with semi-structured interviews with SR managers in six Sinaloa companies certified as Socially Responsible Companies that are part of a broader study that includes 18 large economic units located in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. The results of this research describe the Corporate Social Responsibility strategies determined in five areas: Good labor practices; social development; global agendas; ecology and promotion of sports; culture, economy and science. In addition, it is established that these strategies are related to the praxis of the Social Work profession, even when a low presence of these professionals is observed in the related departments. It is concluded that the identified areas are formed from the social innovation approach regarding the topics they address, while the actions of social responsibility, for the most part, continue to be guided by the philanthropy approach
