Abstract

The expansion of vacancies and the enactment of law no. 12.711 were decisive for the change in the profile of students in public federal Higher Education Institutions. But little is known about the students’ chances of completion and dropout. The objective of this article is to analyze the effects of socioeconomic inequalities on the chances of completion and dropout of blacks and whites, based on a case study from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
