Abstract
Acute severe asthma is one of the commonest causes for emergency room visits. Every child presenting with acute severe asthma will need continuous assessment during treatment. Inhaled short acting β2 agonists by holding chambers or nebulisers is the drug of choice for bronchodilatation. Corticosteroids reduce the duration, severity and hospitalization rates in acute asthma. This article gives an account of managing acute severe asthma.
