Abstract
Severe pelvic injuries are associated with a high mortality rate, due to severe haemorrhage. The risk of pelvic injury rises with injury severity. Especially patients with high velocity road traffic collisions, pedestrian and (motor)cycle collisions, falls from heights, run-over injuries and blast injuries are at risk. Therefore all patients with a mechanism of injury suggestive of pelvic injury, signs of injury or pain in the pelvic region should be treated with a pelvic binder on scene. Therefore there is no need for a low-sensitive manual stability check of the pelvis.
