Abstract

The objective has been considered to determine the sociodemographic factors associated with the level of knowledge in patients with pulmonary TB. It has been used as methods and materials: the approach of the study was quantitative, correlational, not experimental cross-sectional. The population was 68 patients of both sexes with tuberculosis who attended Hospital II-1 Rioja. The instrument was a questionnaire consisting of 20 questions regarding knowledge about tuberculosis. The descriptive and inferential analysis was carried out in the STATA 17 software. We obtained findings where it was found that sex, level of education, economic income, receiving an educational session and family history were associated with knowledge about TB (p < 0.05). The conclusions reached are based on male patients, without education, with limited economic income, those who did not participate in educational sessions and did not have a family history of the disease presented a low level of knowledge about pulmonary TB. The implementation of targeted educational programs for male patients with a low level of education and limited resources is required, with the purpose of strengthening knowledge and preventing pulmonary TB.
