Abstract
Introduction: Sex education is part of general education that incorporates biopsychosocial knowledge of sexuality, creating values and attitudes to live sexuality in a healthy, positive, conscious and responsible way. Objectives: To analyze knowledge about sex education held by teachers in basic, preschool, primary and secondary education, in public or private schools in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila. Methodology: The design was quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional, with a sample of 30 basic education teachers from Saltillo, Coahuila. The questionnaire on knowledge of sexuality and sex education by Manuel Fallas (2009) was applied. Results: It was found that teachers lack knowledge about sex education, sexuality, sexual diversity and sexuality teaching methodologies. Conclusions: Due to teachers' lack of knowledge about sexuality and sexuality education, there is a need to provide them with extensive training and in turn, there is a need for a reform of the Basic Education Teacher Training Curricula, which includes a subject about sexuality education.
