Mammouth extinction: two continents and Wrangel Island

Abstract

Radiocarbon dates have implied that mammoths were extinguished suddenly in North America at the time of the Younger Dryas. However, dates from Eurasia cover a much wider timespan with few coinciding precisely with the Younger Dryas and recent dates from Wrangel Island show that dwarf mammoths survived until about 2200 BC. -K.Clayton
