Abstract

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, the housing lease program provided existing houses to be used as temporary housing. The victims rushed to occupy vacant houses, and it is considered that they searched for owned houses as well as rental apartments. To examine the characteristics of leased houses, 5,227 cases within five municipalities in Miyagi Prefecture were classified into types based on the information in the housing maps. The proportion of owned housing was 24.9% of the total, and 39.8% of these houses were vacant before the earthquake. Locations of houses are plotted, relationship between types and features are analyzed.
