Key Drivers of Future-Ready Talent Development in Malaysia

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of green economy, technological advancement, technological disruption, globalization, and innovation on future-ready talent development. Using a quantitative design, data were collected through an online survey involving 195 respondents, primarily university students, and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that technological advancement and globalization significantly influence future-ready talent, with innovation acting as a key mediator. Specifically, innovation fully mediates the relationship between technological advancement and future-ready talent and partially mediates the effect of globalization. In contrast, the green economy and technological disruption exhibit no significant direct or indirect effects. The study contributes to existing literature by integrating innovation as a mediating factor and providing empirical validation of future-ready talent development. Practically, the findings offer insights for policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to align academic curricula with industry demands, foster innovation-driven workforce development, and implement policies that enhance adaptability in a rapidly evolving job market.
