Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education has transformed teaching and learning through personalized instruction, intelligent tutoring, and adaptive learning environments. This review examines 60 studies on AI-driven education, highlighting key advancements, challenges, and future directions. AI-powered intelligent tutoring systems, machine learning-based assessments, and virtual simulations enhance learning efficiency, yet concerns remain regarding algorithmic transparency, data fairness, and ethical considerations. AI is also reshaping educators’ roles, fostering facilitative teaching, data-driven decision-making, and professional development. While mixed-reality tools and collaborative AI-driven learning frameworks show promise, balancing engagement with academic rigor remains a challenge. Future research should explore teacher-AI collaboration, long-term learning impact, and cross-cultural applicability to develop human-centered, inclusive AI education ecosystems.
