Abstract

A new cyclopentenone derivative, named as 2-(3-carboxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-3- methyl-2-cyclopentenone, and a new furan derivative, named as 5-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-furanacetic acid, were isolated from the cultivated Cordyceps cicadae mycelia. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods, including 2D NMR analyses. © Japan Antibiotics Research Association.
