Abstract

There are two types of Ch. S.O.M. In the safe type that forms 80% of these ears, a dry and normal hearing ear is obtained by the combined efforts of surgery and ear drops. In the unsafe ear conservative and minor surgical treatment suffices in most of these cases. But a close and constant care of a doctor is essential and mastoidectomy performed as and when indication exists, because safety is the main object of the surgeon. Dry ear and a hearing ear after operation is the aim of the patient. Though achieved in some, at least temporary ceasing of discharge can be obtained in others with appropriate conservative treatment after a good mastoidectomy.
