Analysis of parents' satisfaction with school education: Key problems and growth points

Abstract

The formal education system is the basis of socialization and development of the child's personality, forming the value orientations, skills and competencies necessary for independent living. The reform of the educational sector has got a mixed reaction among various social groups in Russian society. Parents of schoolchildren, as the key stakeholders in the educational space, express concern about the decline in student motivation, the quality of schoolchildren's training, and the deterioration of the staff potential of the Russian school. The basic research method was a questionnaire online survey of parents of students of secondary schools of the Leninsky municipal district of Moscow (7 educational institutions). The survey involved 125 parents of 5-11grade students. It was established that the dominant share of parents determines the quality of school education in the middle range of grades. At the same time, a tendency to increase the number of negative opinions was revealed, which can be caused by such problems as "lack of thought" in educational reforms, bureaucratization, changes in traditional school management practices, commercialization of educational services, decreased interest and motivation of students to learn, deformation of teacher functions and status. The negative consequences of the introduction of a unified state exam are highlighted: Standardization of the child's thinking, inability to think independently, limited pedagogical practices within the framework of template test tasks. At the same time, according to the opinion of the parental community, the growth points may include the more active participation of parents in school management, including through the development of social partnership technologies, and the creation of favorable social and psychological conditions for the development of personal and professional qualities of a teacher.
