I don’t care!

Abstract

The article presents selected and frequent cases in everyday communication when various reasons (inconvenient statements, social taboos, excessive expressivity) force a speaker not to use the direct designation of a real phenomenon. In respect to other participants in communication he uses an euphemism (He passed away instead of He died), various forms of lexical substitution (I don´t give a damn for it!, I´ll go nuts!) and the deformation of a pejorative expression (I fly into a rage!), he does not finish a phrase (I don´t give a…/shit/) or leaves out some expression (I´ll smack…/you on the chops/).
