Abstract

Pseudoscorpions (Arachnida) from the Amazone region (Brazil). - More than 21 000 specimens representing 40 species are recorded in this paper, most of the material had been collected during an ecological study in the forests around Manaus. Twenty-six new species are described in the genera Tvidenchthonius, Tyvannochthonius, Pseudo- chthonius, Ideobisium, Nannobisium, Zdeovoncus, Pachyolpium, Geogarypus, Amevichevnes, Pauachernes, Parawithius, and Dolichowithius. The new genus Phymatochevnes is proposed for cvassimanus n. sp., Beierowithius nom. nov. replaces Oligowithius Beier, 1937 (nec Oligowithius Beier, 1936) known from the Baltic amber. Vescichitva Hoff is considered as a junior subjectiv synonym of Nannobisium Beier. The species Morikawia ecuadovica Beier is transferred to the genus Tyvannochthonius, Ideobisium formosum Mello-Leitao to Geogarypus and Lampvochernes plaumanni Beier to Amevichevnes. Identification keys are proposed for the species of Nannobisium and the South American species of Tyran- nochthonius and Pseudochthonius.
