Abstract

A sustainable planet? is drawn from the writings of Barbara Ward. The paper discusses the historical legacy that accounts for global underdevelopment and the lack of a global cooperative system. It stresses the social and political causes of both a lack of development and environmental exploitation and, through such an analysis, argues that solutions are possible. © 1992, IIED.
