Abstract

The aim of this study was to explore the effect of transformational and transactional leadership styles on job satisfaction. In order to investigate the relationship, a quantitative research was conducted. The sample of the study included 121employees and managers from organizations of Abu Dhabi. The short form of Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ-5X) and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire were used for the measurement of leadership styles and the job satisfaction scales. The findings of the research have indicated that there is a significant and positive relationship between the variables of the study. The results of multiple regression indicated that transformational leadership predicts job satisfaction better than the transactional leadership style in terms of the extrinsic, intrinsic and general job satisfaction. The transformational leadership style helped in increasing the job satisfaction of the employees selected for this research.
