Abstract

In the film industry, the current trend is towards larger and larger screens. Large screens are attractive in terms of audience appeal, but in terms of presentation quality, there are significant tradeoffs, both on picture and sound. To correct these tradeoffs, room shapes and matte black walls are being considered as options. Nonetheless, it seems probable that any theatre design requiring a prime lens focal length of 30mm or less has a less than optimum presentation quality.
