Abstract

Mixtures of propylene glycol and water were shown to be effective in several types of ichthyosis. A new formulation was developed which contains a gelling agent, propylene glycol, ethanol and salicylic acid in distilled water. This gel was shown to be very effective in removal of thickened stratum corneum in a variety of disorders associated with hyperkeratosis.
