Abstract
Electrochemical methods such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are widely used for corrosion studies and coatings evaluation. Nevertheless, their use in the field of metallic cultural heritage conservation is less widespread because of the difficulty to perform in situ measurements on sculptures and monuments. In this paper the possibilities of applying this technique to the study of protective coatings for bronze with an innovative portable cell with an electrolyte gelled with agar are presented.
