Abstract
The basic aspects of reticuloendothelial function tests as well as reticuloendothelial functions examined primarily by the Congo red index, white blood cell functions, and the Au198 method in various diseases in the field of internal medicine were evaluated. The reticuloendothelial functions are retarded with the progression of diseases and return to normal with their improvement. Therefore, the reticuloendothelial functions are important for the prognosis of the disease. It should be emphasized that the reticuloendothelial functions are very complex, so the evaluations should be made with caution using all available methods of examination. © 1963, Tohoku University Medical Press.
