Abstract

Heritage protection entails the integrated construction of conservation and collective memory based on historical authenticity. Therefore, the study of history is essential for accomplishing the task of heritage conservation. This article applies a space syntax methodology to explore how urban morphology evolved at a heritage site on Kulangsu Island. The analysis reveals the characteristic features of urban morphology and offers suggestions for optimizing the historical space of world heritage. The effectiveness and limitations of the research are also debated and substantiated.
