The ultrasonographic study of the thyroid, gives relevant information about its measures, volume, irrigation, nodular pathology (benign, malignant and incidentals), and glandular inflammatory disease. When it is associated with Ultrasound Guide Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy, it constitutes an excellent performance method (sensibility near 90%) associated to a low cost. This brings in an important number of cases, the definitive diagnosis in nodular pathology.
