Abstract

In the sentence beginning ‘This primarily takes place in the liver..’ in Section 4.3 of this article, the cross reference ‘[41]’ should have read ‘[4]’. The corrected statement should read: This primarily takes place in the liver, where enzymes such as cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) play a crucial role, as seen with drugs like propranolol and lidocaine. First-pass metabolism can also occur in the gut, involving substances like benzylpenicillin, calcium antagonists, and insulin, where CYP3A4 is also active [4]. The original article has been corrected.
