Abstract

Trauma and Stress-Related Disorders (TSRD) encompass a range of psychological conditions that arise in response to exposure to traumatic events or significant stressors. These disorders include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), and Adjustment Disorders. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the characteristics, prevalence, diagnostic criteria, and treatment options associated with these conditions, highlighting the impact of trauma on mental health. The impact of TSRD is profound and multifaceted, affecting not only the individuals diagnosed but also their families and communities. Individuals with these disorders may face additional challenges such as social stigma, compromised relationships, and increased susceptibility to other mental health conditions, such as anxiety disorders and depression. The interaction between trauma exposure and existing vulnerabilities plays a significant role in the expression and progression of these disorders.
