Abstract

Paaseng toriolo is a legacy of Bugis kings/ sages both in oral and written form (Galigo and Lontara manuscript) in the Tellumpoccoe region (Bone, Soppeng and Wajo). This study aims to restore Bugis cultural values summarized as Pangadereng (Ade ', bicara, Rapang, Wari' and Syara'), aswell as a motivation of life values that is integrated in the concept of Siri "and Shari'ah. This study used a qualitative analysis as the interpretation of the historical, sociological, religious and cultural phenomenon. The research found that the concept of kings and sages began writing in the Galigo and Lontara scripts around XVI-XVII AD century and its contains Paaseng related to the wandering, the importance of Science, social order, the guidelines for the King and officers, obligation of the King with the State and people as well as the guidance of the king, society, and environment. Effortsto restore the preservation of cultural values that are endangered due to a lack of applicants who are able to read the Bugis script so that the reconstruction is viewed very urgent to monitor the generation behavior that are mostly caught up with modern systems in Globalization era.
