Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the mediating effect of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on the relationship between innovation capability and student satisfaction in Colombian higher education institutions (HEIs). The statistical approach applied is the variance-based structural equation model, also known as the partial least squares (PLS-SEM). The sample consists of 398 university students. Data is gathered by using a five-point Likert-type scale composed of 30 items. The results show that all the variables examined are related to each other and that ICTs moderate the relationship between innovation capability and student satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of involving ICTs in the services provided by HEIs since they generate positive results for their end-users, the students. In conclusion, the relationship between the capacity for innovation and student satisfaction is significant and is mediated through ICTs in HEIs.
