Abstract

Although the capabilities for computer integrated control of multiple machines are available and increasingly affordable, few U. S. blow molders have as yet adopted centralized plant control operations - certainly not to the degree that injection molders and extruders have. There is no question that if a blow molding processor wants to network two or more machines for control by a central computer the technology is available. However, the ultimate in automation and integration of the blow molding operation appears also to require additional hardware. The area that seems to need the most work, judging by the development activity now under way in machinery suppliers' workshops, is handling of the blown part after it leaves the mold.
