Abstract
Present trend is to design vehicles to provide maximum comfort to the driver and passenger in spite of the different road conditions. Suspension system is one of the part of vehicle which gives ride comfort. Suspension system plays major role in absorbing road vibrations and provides effective comfort to the diver as well as passenger. This paper presents performance comparison of passive and semi-active suspension system of a quarter car model for different vehicle velocities for half sine wave bump and then for different road profiles using MATLAB SIMULINK. In semi-active suspension system with Proportional-Derivative-Integrator (PID) controller is developed which gives optimal and robust system by withstanding different road conditions and vehicle speeds to increase ride comfort .
