Abstract

Current research aims to help teaching practitioners at the undergraduate level to adapt a text for the purpose of testing academic reading and writing in the Arab world. It presents a detailed description of the process of text adaptation which is done to make selected reading suitable for the nature of the module, type of the testing items, students’ proficiency and cultural environment. The paper focuses on a number of areas undergoing amendments such as text length, vocabulary and terminology, style, etc. According to the mentioned areas application of particular strategies is discussed. The research has been carried out on the basis of one text.
