Abstract
The climate study in small cities gains relevance due to the environmental problems that also devastate these cities today. In this context, this study aims to understand the behavior of air temperature in the municipality of Viçosa-MG, Brazil, from a comparison between countryside and city in seasonal situations of summer and winter. For this, a monitoring network was elaborated with fourteen HOBO dataloggers, model U10-003, being eight in the rural area and six in the urban area, in order to search for a correlation of the thermal records with the following factors: altitude, solar radiation, slopes orientation and Sky View Factor. From the obtained results, it can be affirmed that among those factors that could exert some influence and explain the thermal difference, the one that presented the highest correlation was the Sky View Factor (SVF), followed by the altitude. The factors solar radiation and slope orientation didn’t present a strong correlation.
