Age and sex-related differences in biometrics and moult of Kittiwakes

Abstract

Measurements collected from a post-breeding population of Kittiwakes showed that juvenile Kittiwakes were smaller and lighter than older birds. Second-summer birds showed no difference in biometrics from adults but were more advanced in moult. Males were found to be less advanced in moult than females. © 1988 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
