Abstract

Examination of soil samples from a sclerophyllous shrubland near the town of Iboribó in La Gran Sabana, Venezuela, revealed an undescribed species of Scutellospora whose spores are ornamented with finger-print-like processes, are ochraceous yellow with a pinkish tint, and have a complex wall structure. The new species, named Scutellospora striata, is the third Scutellospora species described from La Gran Sabana, Venezuela.
